We hear you’re looking forward to a future filled with more short sleeves, maxi dresses, and swimsuits! You know that food choices are KEY to a successful weight loss journey and overall health. After all, healthy foods help us lose weight and help us to just feel downright good! But did you know that your positive daily choices are also helping to feed and nourish your skin? It’s no secret that weight loss and skin health go hand-in-hand! So while you’re working on a strong, fit body through your food choices and daily activities, here are some great tips to ensure the “new you” has a healthy, youthful glow, too!

Hydration Station

DRINK MORE WATER! If you’ve heard it once, you’ve heard it a thousand times…hydrate your way to healthy! There’s a reason you hear this line so often - it’s because IT’S TRUE! Drinking enough water helps keep your skin happy, hydrated, and healthy!

Sulfur for Youthful Skin

Sulfur is vital for the production of all sorts of very important proteins and is a vital element in strengthening the cross-linkages that promote taut, youthful, fluid-retaining skin. Additionally, sulfur improves the production of keratin for stronger hair and nails. MRC offers an easily absorbed source of sulfur, and it’s available in the compound MSM (Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane). Ask your Weight Loss Specialist for more details at your next Center visit.  Note: regular users reported improved skin tone and increased hair and nail growth - which may be attributed to an improved production of both collagen and keratin.

Scrub-A-Dub-Dub!

Did you know that using scrubs (such as sea salt) may help increase the flow of blood in your body? In addition to making your skin feel soft, smooth, and younger all over, scrubs can also help promote healthier skin elasticity! It’s worth a shot, right? We recommend using a good sea salt or sugar based scrub!

Pump it Up

Adding a few simple weight training movements into your workout can really help your body build lean muscle under your skin. This will help you look tighter and more toned. The best part - you don't have to drop $100/mo on a gym membershhip - just two to three times a week using weighted object you have right at home can have a positive impact!

Healthy Fats = Healthy Skin

Good, healthy fats like you find in olive oil, avocado, Omega-3 fatty acids, and grass-fed butter are as nourishing for the skin as they are for the body. Healthy fats provide your body with Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant. Vitamin E also helps to prevent damage to skin’s cells and slow the aging process. Monounsaturated fats found in foods like avocado help to moisturize and hydrate the skin. That’s right! For skin as smooth as butter, have a healthy serving of butter!

Eat Lean

Enjoying lean protein as a part of your daily diet can help to tighten the skin and may help improve lean muscle mass. Not to mention that doing so will also help you to maintain your goal weight. It’s a win-win! Plus, lean protein also contains collagen and other nutrients that your skin needs to best maintain its elasticity.

Strive for Five

Be sure to eat at least five servings of fresh fruits and veggies each day! These power foods provide skin with the nutrients it needs to rebound! Having trouble getting all five in? The MRC Super Fruit and Veggi Drink mix is here for the rescue! This powerful mix combines more than a dozen fruits and vegetables (and their micronutrients) to help maintain overall health. It's packed with immunity-boosting antioxidants. It is also said to aid in repair, recovery, and rejuvenation of the body's many biological systems.

Ban the Tan

Daily exposure to sunshine helps the body produce immune-boosting Vitamin D, but excessive tanning is really horrible for your skin! Whether indoors or out, all those excess UV rays can really do some damage! Avoid tanning beds altogether, and always wear sunblock when you're outside.

Rinse and Repeat

In order to beat the summer heat, many people enjoy a dip in the pool. However, it’s important to remember that chlorine is really harsh and can dry out skin. If you’re in the pool a lot (for fitness or just for fun) be sure to rinse off with a good cleanser as soon as you’re done swimming! Pro Tip: rinse with warm water. Water that’s too hot can strip the skin of its natural oils.

So go ahead and adopt a few (or all) of the tips above to help give the largest organ of your body some well-deserved love. All of these tips may not be right for everyone; so do what's right for you, remembering that it's always recommended that you speak with your physician before making lifestyle changes to find the approach that's the best for you and your needs. One healthy habit is one more step in the right direction to better health and wellness! Have questions or wanting to get started on Super Fruit & Veggetable Drink and/or MSM?
